International Medals for Traditional Tae Kwon Do Association Cornwall.

 

A lot of hard work and training paid off for four young students from TTA Cornwall.

They were selected to compete in Malaysia after training at the 2nd Cornwall Sparring Course Conducted by Grandmaster T.K. Loh. The 11th.  Interschool & 2nd Invitational TTSC Tae Kwon Do 2005 Championship was held in Melaka, Malaysia. The competition was held over the weekend of 16 & 17 July 2005. The invitational competition started on the 17 July with teams from Scotland, Cornwall and Malaysia attending. Joseph Lyward won silver and Martyn Adrien won bronze in the sparring under 55kg category, Christopher Adrien, Joseph Lyward, Leo Oates and Martyn Adrien won team bronze in the team poomsae.

 

Training was very challenging especially in the Malaysian tropical heat, to get acclimatized fitness training lasted 8 days and would start at 5.30 am and finish at 8 am Tae Kwon Do training would consist of 3 to 4 hours training in the early evening. Some of the Malaysian Instructors joined our training in the morning we also trained with the TTSC demo team for 3 hours one evening. Mr Shields stated that the conditions and training was so harsh that after 20 minutes of training the uniforms we wear (Dobok) became so wet with sweat that they became see through and we were wringing the sweat out after training.
